It was announced by the BBC1 yesterday that the Scottish Executive has plans to block the Lewis wind farm proposed for the Western Isles of Scotland.
Locals of Lewis, bombarded the Scottish Executive2 with 5000 letters causing the Executive to intervene and block the proposed 181 wind energy turbines. The grounds for protest where that of social-economic ruin and endangering local wild life.
The effects that this has on the rest of the country are that it may increase the difficulty for future projects of this nature, this having a knock on effect on the green house gas emissions. It may also lead to increased prices for green energy, however this is dependant on the energy providers.
