News about all things energy!

A historian has claimed that the push to use more hydro electric in the 50s failed.

Back then they had mastered how to generate cheap electricity but for some reason they failed to attract industry to the north Scotland.

The scheme was dubbed “the power of the glens”.

Back then there will little consolation for the people who lived in the area as their houses had to be knocked down so the levels of the lochs could be raised to flood the glens.

They where looked after and the level of living was far greater thanks to the availability of cheap electricity in the area.

The biggest Hydro program since 1957 is ready to go main stream this year and will produce up to 100 megawatts, that’s enough electricity to power 250,000 homes.
